Part classical mythology, part rock-and-roll rebel? Pan brings a wonderfully unexpected edge to this distinctive antique pendant. Crafted in the early Victorian era (1840-1860), this striking hand-carved hard stone cameo depicts Pan carved in dark relief against a white stone ground dancing and playing his pipes. Generously framed in rich 18-carat gold with subtle braided detail around the cameo's edge, the pendant is accented with four bright elongated pink-red rubies.
This would make a fantastic piece for the life-of-the-party-antique-lover or, if you don't know one of those rare birds, someone who just needs a little reminder to have some fun.
Note: In 1988, I went to the opening show of George Thoroghgood's 'Bad to the Bone' tour in Portland, Maine. It remains the roughest, rowdiest concert I've ever attended. Good times.
