Oh the Victorian penchant for beauty and nature and the supremely delightful! This brooch epitomises those passions in dragonfly form with bejewelled wings that sparkle with every flutter. And just look at those bright ruby eyes!
Intricately detailed with outstretched wings made of old-cut diamonds, rubies, and deep blue sapphires, the body is lined with iridescent seed pearls and all are set expertly in dragonfly form in silver and backed in gold.
Victorians were fascinated with the natural world and insect-themed jewellery. The dragonfly is often associated with transformation, renewal and new beginnings, qualities worth embracing now as much as then.
