This Victorian-era pearl and enamel star locket pendant brooch is a rare antique find.  Hailing from the high Victorian period, the brooch is set in 15-carat yellow gold with a central star motif set with pearls surrounded by a cobalt blue enamel star.  Intricately braided and twisted 15-carat gold wirework decoration surrounds the central motif.  This substantial piece can be worn as a brooch or as a pendant on a strong gold chain or a ribbon. The reverse of the brooch houses a glazed locket compartment, originally intended to hold a photo or lock of hair, with a pin and "C" catch fitting.  A truly beautiful and rare antique piece which has survived in wonderful condition.

Throughout the Victorian era, stars were often used as a metaphor to describe or symbolise love.
