Georgian paste jewellery is highly sought after by collectors and jewellery enthusiasts for its intricate designs and historical significance.  Paste developed when jewellers created a technique using leaded glass to create imitation gemstones that resembled diamonds, rubies, emeralds, and other precious stones, known as 'paste'.   The glass used for these stones was initially in a paste-like form, later cut and faceted to mimic the sparkle and brilliance of real gemstones.  Paste gemstones were often worn by high society, who would have their favourite jewellery copied in paste form to be worn on their grand tours so as to keep their precious gemstones tucked safely away at home.
