'You Can Leave Your Hat On' 18-Carat Gold Etruscan Revival Re-Worked Hat Pin Pendant

Crafted in 18ct gold in the Etruscan Revival style that swept through fine jewellery houses in the latter half of the nineteenth century, this exquisite antique French pendant began its days as a hat pin, a small, wearable sculpture pinned to the brims and crowns of the fashionable, before being reborn as a pendant for a new century of admirers.  The pendant is a study in disciplined elegance.  A conical form tapering to a domed base is divided by delicate vertical ribs and encircled at its widest point by a band of fine beaded wirework, a hallmark of the Etruscan Revival's love affair with ancient goldsmithing techniques.  The gold has the warm, slightly matte depth that only age and quality of metal can produce.
