'Mysterious Ways' Victorian Spider Brooch

With the body of a spider made of collet-set gemstones poised at the centre of a slim gold bar, this is a wonderful example of Victorian insect-themed jewellery.  Collet-set watery blue aquamarine and a vibrant ruby make up the body, while the legs and bar are made from 9 carat gold.  In Victorian times, natural motifs including insects, plants, stars, and moons were highly desirable and considered genteel.
